The Institute of Governance at the University of Edinburgh is designed to provide a range of expertise on issues of specific relevance to constitutional change and areas of policy related work.

To date, it has involved liaising and working with the Scottish Parliament and Scottish Executive, MSPs, parliamentary staff, civil servants, business, the media and others.

The Institute is developing work under a number of categories, its main activities are:

photo: Chisholm House Following the success of the Governance of Scotland Forum, established in 1998, the University of Edinburgh has established the Institute of Governance, under the auspices of the School of Social and Political Studies. The Institute builds on much of what the Forum has achieved, particularly the Political Internship Programme and meetings and events covering developments in the Scottish Parliament. In its new form, the Institute is also able to deliver new activities. Governance and public administration are important topics in both the UK and Europe, as well as further afield, and will remain so for the foreseeable future. The Institute is able to draw on the University's unparalleled expertise in this area, collaborating with others as appropriate, notably in the School of Social and Political Studies.

Staff

The Institute has a core staff, and the boundaries between it and the rest of the School of Social and Political Studies are fluid. Staff of the Institute are as follows:
