How to get to 21 George Square

By train:

Edinburgh has two train stations: Haymarket in the West End, and Waverley which is the main station in the city centre. Both stations are well connected to bus and taxi services.

To take the bus to the university please consult the Lothian Buses route map. The university is shown on the route map as ‘Potterow’ (underneath the letter ‘H’). Alternatively, the bus stops on Nicholson Street (underneath the letter ‘G’) are only a short walk from George Square.

To walk to the university from Waverley Station (takes around 30 minutes) exit the station onto Princes Street and facing the street turn right. Walk to North Bridge and turn right onto the bridge, following it along as it turns into South Bridge and Nicholson Street. From Nicholson Street turn right onto West Nicholson Street and then cross the road onto Crichton Street ahead on the right. This will take you to the top of George Square. 21 George Square is at the far side of the Square.

By coach:

Edinburgh’s St Andrews Coach Station (on St Andrew’s Square) is situated in the city centre. Buses depart there all day long. Please consult the Lothian Buses route map.

The university is shown on the route map as ‘Potterow’ (underneath the letter ‘H’). Alternatively, the bus stops on Nicholson Street (underneath the letter ‘G’) are only a short walk from George Square.

To walk to the university from the coach station (takes around 35 minutes) exit the station onto St Andrew’s Square. With your back to the station turn left onto South Saint Andrew Street and then left onto Princes’ Street. Cross the street and turn left, following the Princes’ Street around as it curls right and turns into North Bridge. Continue along North Bridge as it turns into South Bridge and Nicholson Street. From Nicholson Street turn right onto West Nicholson Street and then cross the road onto Crichton Street ahead on the right. This will take you to the top of George Square. 21 George Square is at the far side of the Square.

By plane:

Edinburgh Airport is situated about 7 miles west of Edinburgh city centre.

To reach the city centre by bus you can take the Airlink 100 service from outside the terminal building. Tickets may be bought from a desk at the bus stop or on board the bus. The journey time is around 25 minutes to its final stop outside Waverley Train Station. From the station please follow directions for 'Finding us by train' above.

Alternatively, there is a taxi rank outside the terminal building. Journeys to the city centre take approximately 25 minutes.

How to get to Chisholm House

By train:

To walk to High School Yards from Waverley Station (takes around 15-20 minutes) exit the station onto Princes Street and facing the street turn right. Walk to North Bridge and turn right onto the bridge, following it along as it turns into South Bridge. From South Bridge turn left into Infirmary Street and then right into High School Yards.

By coach:

Edinburgh’s St Andrews Coach Station (on St Andrew’s Square) is situated in the city centre. Buses run all day long. Please consult the Lothian Buses route map.

The buses stop on South Bridge. From South Bridge turn left into Infirmary Street and then right into High School Yards.
